TactiCon 2014 Call for GMs

Hello, Pathfinders!




TactiCon 2014 is 8 weeks away and this is our call for GMs. One of the area's largest gaming convention is four days long; a total of nine 4-hour 'slots.' Each of those slots will be offering between 8 and 11 tables of Pathfinder Society play. What does this mean? It means we need GMs. Without you guys stepping forward and taking on the task of running games, none of those games will happen.


Below this announcement will be a list of slots to be filled, with scenario numbers, names and tiers.  Some scenarios do not have names yet, but I have been promised that they will be ready by the end of July. Every table you volunteer for gets us closer to our number, and opens up more perks for you.


What perks, you ask? Well, let me enlighten you.


1. Each slot you GM will earn you a free ticket to play during another slot.
2. If you GM 3 slots you will instead get your weekend Convention badge for free.
3. Each slot more than 3 gets a free ticket to play during another slot (so, GM 5 slots and your weekend badge is free, plus you earn two tickets to play).
4. Every GM gets the fear and admiration of tables filled with PFS players.
5. An award ceremony is held Sunday evening after the Con, where all GMs will be presented a bit of free swag (or more, depending on number of tables and 'GM Scores'). This award event hands out a lot of awesome goodies and is not to be missed.
6. All scenarios you run will be placed in your Paizo download files free of charge.
7. You will also receive a racial boon as a thank you for running games.  This is the only way to get a racial boon - we will not be handing them out any other way.


As well, during the month of August, 'slot zero' events will be held at Enchanted Grounds in Highlands Ranch. You will only be able to play the scenarios being released in the next few months at the convention or at one of these 'slot zeros'. To play in a 'slot zero' you must be a volunteer for GM duty at TactiCon.


Also, I am considering setting up a retirement arc table to be run all day Friday and Saturday.  This is not on the program schedule and the players for this table will be solicited separately on the RM PFS boards.  If you are interested in running the retirement arc, please let me know.  I will give preference to the GM who has already played or run the arc and you must be available to run it all day Friday and Saturday.  If you do decide to run it, I will seat your table Friday morning and you will be responsible for deciding breaks and such during both days.


I know there were several problems at GenghisCon and with the RPG section in particular.  I have discussed them in detail with the RPG section.  As you know, there have been several changes at the DGA and I have been promised by Ed that things will run much smoother this time around.

I usually run my games on Maptool using a laptop and a computer monitor. For my planning will I have electricity to do this (if I bring an extension cord) or should I plan on using minis and drawing maps?

EDIT: Also, when are the files added to our Paizo downloads? And which hotel will this be at (this is my first CON)?

I've seen the names for the two specials swapped on a couple occasions.  Unless it is a misprint on the Gen Con events page, this is how they were scheduled there:

PFS Gen Con Special: Legacy of the Stonelords (Season 5 Conclusion) (Tier 1-11)

The Society must explore the lost Sky Citadel Jormurdun and may discover that the greatest prize is not the fortress itself but the treasure that lies at its heart. This adventure is for levels 1-11.

At long last, the Pathfinders have reached the lost Sky Citadel Jormurdun only to find it already occupied by fiends and subterranean foes. The Society must mount an epic offense to explore the immense subterranean city while simultaneously driving off the squatters within. If they succeed, the Pathfinders may discover that the greatest prize is not the mountain fortress itself but the treasure that lies at its heart. The adventure concludes Season 5, Year of the Demon.

PFS Gen Con Special: The Paths We Choose (Season 6 Kick-Off) (Tier 3-7)

The failure of Mendev's wardstones set in motion not only a new crusade but also catalyzed a change in the Pathfinder Society's various factions. As the Pathfinders prepare to march on the Sky Citadel Jormurdun, members of the various factions scramble to consolidate their gains and neutralize their enemies. The Paths We Choose is a special event designed to highlight the changes in each faction over the course of Season 5, The Year of the Demon, and the adventure is different for each group depending on which factions are represented at the table. Content in The Paths We Choose also contributes directly to the ongoing storylines of the Andoran, Cheliax, Osirion, Qadira, Sczarni, and Taldor factions.  This adventure kicks off Season 6 & is for character levels 3-7.

*edit: I guess the confusion is how they are numbered on Paizo and what the description suggests.  5-99: The Paths We Choose "kicks off Season 6" and 6-00: Legacy of the Stonelords "concludes Season 5".

According to John Compton on the Know Direction Podcast both scenarios transition from season 5 to season 6, rather than one being the start and one being the end.

The Paths We Choose explains in game how the faction changes will occur in game.
