ANNOUNCING! May 2022 @ The Wizard's Chest

Post by CDragos » Tue Apr 19, 2022 8:27 pm

Happy Springtime, Pathfinders!

This month I am offering the two part series that kicked off the "Year of Corruption's Reach" metaplot for Season 2. Almost a year ago I was running The Fall of Plaguestone at the time these were offered so the players involved with Plaguestone may have missed out on these. I will be running these two scenarios for PCs of levels 1-2 due to the addition of a couple of new players, so, please keep that in mind when signing up. I might allow a level 3 PC or two, however, please get in touch with me first.

Seats are limited to 6 players, and are a first come, first served basis, so sign up soon.
Games are $2 to play which goes towards a WC gift card for the GM for their time and resourses spent prepping the scenario.

When signing up, please leave your real first name & last initial. This is very important!
If you do not leave a First name and Last Name or Initial, you won't be guaranteed a seat. I do not want to clutter the board asking for a real name and waiting days for a reply while others are signing up for a seat.

Now... on to the games!

Sunday, May 1st, 1-5pm
Table 1:
#2-01: Citadel of Corruption (tier 1-4)
For the past several years, Pathfinders have explored the edges of the Iobarian wilderness, making new allies and discovering hints at a long-forgotten past. Now, the Decemvirate has decided that it is time for the Pathfinders to do what Pathfinders do best: explore, report, and cooperate!
In an ancient cyclopean ruin, the Society seeks to stake their claim with both a new lodge and, hopefully, new insights into Iobaria's remote history. Some secrets are best left buried, however. Will the PCs make a name for themselves as modern day explorers, or will the evil lurking at the heart of the Iobarian dig site consume their hopes and dreams?

(Scenario tags: Metaplot).

Sunday, May 15th, 1-5pm
Table 2:
#2-03: Catastrophe's Spark (tier 1-4)
In the ruined cyclopes city of Min-Khadaim, the Pathfinders search for answers into the disappearance of one of their own and the nature of a dangerous ritual. As the Pathfinders delve ever deeper into Iobaria's lost past, will they find the answers they seek, or will they uncover even greater dangers than those that have already been unleashed?
(Scenario tags: Metaplot, Vigilant Seal).

Myself (Robert D) and my partner (Cameron D) would both love to attend both games. This is both of our first time playing with Pathfinder Society but I am not a novice in the Pathfinder universe.

It looks like both tables will fill up fast which means I'll need to open up a second table for each session. I'll need a volunteer GM first, though, before I open up seats!

Doug, I'm going to prioritize seating to those that can make both sessions since it is a two part arc. Hopefully, I can get another GM if first tables fill up.

Awesome, Evan!
I just discovered that my message in reply to your first PM to me never got sent to you. I did reply to your second message so just go with that info. Bring whatever you want to play.

Sometimes people will post in the sign up threads what they plan on bringing or what PCs they have available. This helps all the players choose what to bring to the session. Don't worry about this now, though. Just play what you want!
It would be pretty funny, though, if everyone brought a PC of the same class. I can just imagine the shenanigans of an all bard party!

P.S. Here's a hint for everyone: This is an archaeological expedition scenario. You can probably guess that from the scenario's description, though. ;)

I have added Sign Up links underneath each scenario's description. Take your time filling these out. As long as they're filled out by the end of the session, we're good to go. Feel free to ask any questions if you have any.

Also, these sign up lists are another good way to see what the other players are bringing. In the "class" section I like to also put my PC's ancestry in there, too. ("Elf Bard" instead of just "Bard", for example).

Is it required or suggested to play the same characters in both parts?

That's a good question and I'm glad you asked.

No, it is not necessary to play the same PC in a two part arc, but, it makes more sense if you do. In the case of these scenarios, there are dozens of Pathfinders at the archaeology base camp performing different duties. Some are there cataloguing artifacts, working in the mess tent, and whatever else needs to be done in a small compound of scholars, researchers, and laborers. However, a few Pathfinders are chosen to go out to explore the ruins and clear them of danger, and to record any findings they discover. These are the PCs you choose to play in the adventure. So, basically, any of your PCs could be there and be chosen to go explore the ruins. It doesn't need to be the same PC on both excursions. However, in the case of most two or three part scenarios, The Society rewards you with something special if you do play the same PC in each part. The final chronicle sheet will say something like "If this PC has also earned the chronicle for part 1, then this PC has earned the special boon for completing both parts."

TL;DR: So, it's entirely up to you if you want to play the same PC through both parts to earn the special boon, but, it's not required to play the same PC through both parts.

Rayna has Rep from other factions already - why not V. Seal? That's more Merg's thing but they can share stories C:-)
