A New Start @ Enchanted Realms

In honor of the new move your Venture Captain, O.J. and I, your Venture Agent, spoke with the management and they have agreed to give the Rocky Mountain Pathfinder Society the rights to name the RPG rooms.  The initial, informal consensus was to use the names of the Pathfinder factions (Grand Lodge, Silver Crusade, etc.), but I want get a well rounded opinion from the players.  Consider that each of the small RPG rooms should have a unique name and graphic to illustrate the room name (i.e. the Red Room should have a red toned graphic, etc.).

We also have permission to start planning décor themes for each RPG room.  Again, the initial consensus was to paint a mural on one wall of the room and to paint dungeon, forest, desert, or other themes on the remaining walls.    The management even mentioned attaching props (prop swords, shields, stones, etc.) to the walls to give each room some depth. I think that an intimidating monster mural with an appropriate background setting would be fantastic! Picture a minotaur surrounded by dungeon walls dominating the room with a few of the stones casting shadows down the walls! 

At this point, we are only brainstorming some concepts.  Once we have a few good ideas, we will sketch them out and present them to the management for approval.  If we are given the green light, we will start one room at a time, buy supplies and get volunteers to paint the rooms!

If you can draw, WE NEED YOU!  We will project the drawings onto the walls to transfer the images before we start painting so don't worry about scaling up a picture from page size to wall size. Please consider volunteering for this awesome opportunity to shape the future of Enchanted Realms!

I want to voice more reason why it'd be a super idea beyond having a large enough batch for one coherent theme:  each room's name readily suggests appropriate wall decorations inside.  Portrait of faction leader behind each GM chair? Check.  Oriental art for the Lantern Lodge room? Check.  Sinister Cthuloid art for the Dark Archive room?  Check.  Heraldic crests for the Sovereign Court room? Check!  etc!

I like the idea, but I know I would have a challenge painting the faction leaders... maybe a large framed picture printed from the community use images?  That might work...

Michael's got a good idea too in theming a room after the Golarion Pantheon, but the Temple of Calistria won't be very family store friendly.

I worked up a few ideas last night that I can bring to the Wednesday night game to gather some opinions.

If you want some props, I've probably got about a hundred somethings you use. Brass candlesticks, old tankards, and some other random, interesting objects. I'd be more than happy to donate, and if you want to have a look can bring a few down on Wednesday.

Sounds fun, but I think they want props that can be mounted on the walls (less chance that they will walk off that way).  I have a few old Halloween costume props (swords and the like) that I could donate to the cause.

I will promote this post at Wednesday's game and give it another week before I start pulling information together. 

I think we may be able to merge a few of the ideas together, like painting the room like a guild hall for the Scarab Sages with opulent decorations, cushions and chairs, etc. and a sphinx or mummy bursting in.  Maybe a few ratfolk or goblins tunneling in to the Grand Lodge guild room, or a beholder breaking into the Dark Archive library... That way everyone wins (or at least rolls initiative )

What's the possibility of getting something like a big screen tv set up in one (or more) of the rooms?  Not sure the liability of something like that...

It's just that there have been times where something like "Roll20" might have actually worked well (or better?) for some of the mapping combats.

The store may consider something like that for the media studio, but probably not for all of the other rooms.  We're usually good about those kind of things, but some of the other gamers who use the space *MTG players*cough* may not be as respectful of the area.  Paint is easy to fix, 32" flat screen monitors, not so much.

A shot of the "Miskatonic Library" is useful not only for the Dark Archive but also the Grand Lodge faction


Maybe I'm partial to the Best faction but the Sovereign Court needs something much more impressive than what you found.
Of course, heraldry shields/crests are much more easily painted by mortal nerds such as ourselves.  It'd be a ton of fun to work personalized touches into the shields of the various illustrious members of the Sovereign Court, much like fun titles of books in a library wall.
