Homunculus23 wrote: Tue Feb 25, 2020 9:43 am The Barbarian is a traveler, which is why I chose it. A curiouser of fineness and weapons, for a Dwarf. I do not know lore about Knights of Lastwall, if they would have a Barbarian.

Question about character builds: for every voluntary ability flaw you take, you get an ability boost, right? And you can take a voluntarily ability flaw twice for two different boost?

Second, which Instinct works best? Thinking Dragon, Giant, or Sprit.
Two flaws = one boost. No score can go below 8 or above 18.
To add to this on the flaws - you apply both the flaws and the boost during the ancestry step in particular. You can't boost a score more than once during that step, unless you're offsetting the ancestry's starting flaw. You also can't boost one of the ability scores that's already boosted by your ancestry. It's possible to do this incorrectly and still end up with no stats above 18 at the end, but if you consider the Ancestry step as the first stat boost step, you can't end with any stat above a 12 during this step. You also can't apply the flaw to the same ability score twice to same ability, unless it was one of the ones that started at 12 for your ancestry (and thus will end up at 8 ).

The safest rule is, "Applying the Ancestry boost step first, you may optionally take 2 flaws to get 1 boost, you can only choose that once, and no score can end up below 8 or above 12 from this step."

For the instincts - At these lower levels, these three will mostly play the same. Giant will do the most damage by a couple points per hit, but reduces your AC even more than regular rage, which can be pretty dangerous. Dragon does the middle ground on damage but mixes in some elemental attribute which could be bad/good depending on the specific monster. Spirit does the least damage but could be really strong against undead or incorporeal monsters with extra damage or reducing resistances.

The mechanical differences aren't so big that it'll matter much at level 4. Pick whichever flavor you like most. I will say that one of my players in my home campaign is a Giant Instinct barbarian, and he definitely gets hit more than other party members with the extra AC penalty from always being clumsy.

Matt, Ryan & Melissa,

Please post by Friday with what ancestry, background, & class you have chosen. Or, email your character sheet or screenshot of your sheet to me if you want. If I do not get a response by Friday afternoon, I will assume you are not playing and will give your spots to others who are interested.

Read through some lore on Lastwall.
If we need to make changes so the party works better, such as changing my background to help another member with amhigh CHA stat, let me know.

This is a first level adventure. Just focus on your PC. I will start a FoP discussion thread soon, however.

Edit: You are not limited to the FoP backgrounds. They are just to help better incorporate your PC into the story. However, there are some side-treks using these backgrounds. Feel free to use CRB backgrounds if none of these Plaguestone ones work for ya.

I am looking forward to this!
I just want to make sure the right background and character work for the group - and most importantly, the background you want for your story, Christian.

Doug, which background did you go with? No worries if it's a CRB one. Just need to know. Thanks!

I went with Tinkerer so I can help repair shields. I have heard the combat can be brutal in this module. With my Naval background engineering lore seemed a good fit for me as I know something about it.

Well, it's after 7pm on Friday and I never heard from Ryan (& Melissa) since his original post to sign up. It's kind of last minute, but, I'm opening up their spots to anyone else that wants in. Beginners are welcome to join!

Game started yesterday. The first of several sessions. Let me think about it and I'll get back to you.

William,

After giving it some thought, you should have signed up during the 3 week period before the game. Since the game already started it is too late to accept players. However, i will be offering it again in mid summer. Be sure to sign up on time.

Hail, Plaguestoners!

TL;DR: If you are feeling ill and cannot make it to Sunday's game, we will postpone. No worries!

To paraphrase a post Zach wrote earlier...
Just a heads up to all players signed up for Plaguestone and other games. As of right now, games are still scheduled to occur, but please keep your eyes on this thread regarding potential cancellations due to COVID-19.

More and more large events are being canceled/postponed, and many businesses are encouraging working from home -- this all weighs on my mind. I don't want to cancel things out of panic alone, but I have to consider both the risks to players, their families, other patrons of the store, employees and more. If games do occur, please do not touch other peoples dice, food, minis, drinks and other property. Be mindful of space between yourself and other players.

Keep your eyes peeled over the next week or so for any changes in the schedule. If you have any feedback, feel free to post it here or reach out to me privately.
