Covid-19 and Pathfinder Society Suspension

Greetings Pathfinders!

This is not a happy note that I typing. When I first became a Venture Officer, I never imagined that I would type up a note like this.

As many of you are aware, the Covid-19 virus has been doing a number all over the world. Recently, the White House has recommended that gatherings of people be kept to under 10 people. As a result, I have recommended to the various Venture Officers in the region that we temporarily suspend Pathfinder Society sanctioned events in the area until the virus dies down. It breaks my heart to make such a recommendation as I love the community that we have all built together, but I would be even more heart-broken if one of you could never come play again as a result of catching a disease that has killed many people.

Please be assured, this is a short-term situation. It will probably be discontinued within a couple of weeks. Sadly, many of the events that we have all been looking forward to have also been cancelled. GameCon and KoboldCon in Colorado Springs have both been cancelled in April of 2020, but I've been assured by the organizers that they will return!

Obviously, the Pallid Princess Urgathoa has been busy and we all must remember the three things that are needed to combat her nefarious schemes: Keep Calm, Wash Your Hands, and if you feel sick then stay home!

Explore, Report, Cooperate!

If you guys haven’t discussed this option yet, for the protection of everyone in the community, we moved all our games here in Seattle to Roll20. This way everyone l still has the opportunity for their Goblins to play with fire and their Skittermanders to help everybody until this blows over.

This is an option that I am planning on investigating once I have gotten over my shock of making this announcement.

Yeah, they've started making all PFS games in Virginia run online or on Discord. It's for the greater good.

I'm a huge fan of Roll20 with the help of Discord (voice chat) and Warhorn (recruitment) for online games. It's much easier than some people may think!

We already have an online games forum if people are interested! It hasn't gained any steam yet, perhaps now is the time.

Joined a "PbP for very beginners" on Paizo. Learning the very basics now before their PbP convention, Outpost III, starts at the end of March.

A few years ago I tried to encourage people to try out the online world and found zero traction from the local folks. If I remember correctly, I think people were afraid of technical hurdles and learning curve. It's really not that bad at all. I love playing at the stores (and just started to get back into that), but online is a blast, too!

PFS was my valid excuse to get out of the house away from my wife for a few hours. 💔 Sad this is happening and I hope everyone stays healthy and safe.

Well, they say not to get in groups of more than 10 people. 6 people makes a PFS table. Anyone planning on doing home games?

Once you guys get this started, if you have multiple tables you’re trying to fill, I can share the invites with the Seattle crew.

If you’re short on GMs, I can do the same here and share the invites with you all. We have a few GMs willing to run tables here. Right now we’re building our online games around Sunday’s and Monday’s but may expand more depending on level of interest.

I have a roll20 account and can GM games if people are interested. It’s not hard to get set up.

I use google hangouts for the voice/video portion.

I think Outpost III will be offering games on Roll20 & other platforms. Since it's a Paizo sponsored con, you can get awesome boons.

I don't have a computer so I cant do VTT which is why I'm doing PbP.

Word on the Wizard's Chest -
I stopped by yesterday and spoke with Kevin, the owner.
They now have limited hours, 11 am to 5:30 pm. They allow no more than 10 people in the store at one time. They prefer game orders to be called ahead and delivered curbside. PLEASE ORDER SOMETHING! This impacts all businesses - even game stores.
All games and events hosted, official or not, are suspended until the end of April. :'( :'(

So Plaguestone is really suffering from the Plague! LOL

Go ahead and set something up and let people know!

I'm sorry I haven't been more active in monitoring the forums for the last several days. My father-in-law is in the hospital with Covid-19 at the moment, and I'm in self-quarantined with my beautiful bride in the meantime. I've been more than a little distracted.
